At Springfield Dental, we provide gentle dental care for children in a calm and child-friendly environment. Our team helps kids feel comfortable during their visit while supporting parents with clear advice about their child’s oral health.

We focus on prevention, early detection, and education. During your child’s visit, we check their teeth, gums, bite, jaw growth, and oral habits. We also teach children simple brushing and flossing techniques so they can build healthy habits from a young age.

At Springfield Dental, we believe a child’s first visit to the dentist sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy habits. We have designed our pediatric services to be more than just a check-up; we provide a supportive, child-friendly environment where your little ones feel safe, curious, and relaxed.

Kids’ Dental Treatments

Helping Anxious Children Feel Safe at the Dentist

Springfield Dental offers sleep dentistry options for children who experience extreme dental anxiety, have a strong gag reflex, require lengthy or complex treatment, or are too young to cooperate in the dental chair. Our team will walk you through every step of the process and answer all your questions before the appointment so you and your child feel fully prepared and confident.

Is sleep dentistry right for my child? Sleep dentistry may be recommended if your child:

  • Has significant dental anxiety or fear
  • Requires multiple treatments in one visit
  • Has had a previous traumatic dental experience
  • Has a strong gag reflex that makes treatment difficult
  • Is very young and unable to sit still for treatment

If your child has had a difficult dental experience in the past, please let us know when you book. We will take extra care to ensure this visit is a positive one.

Kids Emergency Dentist Brisbane

Springfield Dental provide kids emergency dentistry in Brisbane for children with tooth pain, dental injuries, swelling, broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, or sudden discomfort. We also offers extended hours on Monday and Tuesday, from 8:30am to 7:30pm, which helps families access urgent dental care after school or work. We are also open on Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Our dentists carefully check your child’s teeth, gums, and mouth to understand the cause of the problem. We then explain the treatment options clearly, so parents know what to expect before any care begins.

If your child has dental pain, swelling, or a tooth injury, call Springfield Dental to book an emergency appointment. Early care can help reduce discomfort and prevent the problem from getting worse.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should my child first see a paediatric dentist in Brisbane?

We recommend your child has their first dental visit by their first birthday, or within six months of their first tooth appearing. Starting early helps your child feel comfortable at the dentist and allows us to monitor their dental development from the very beginning.

What happens during a children’s dentistry check-up?

Our goal is to keep things fun and stress-free. A visit involves:

A gentle “tooth counting” session.

Checking the health of the gums and jaw.

A light clean and fluoride treatment if needed.

Tips for parents on brushing and healthy snacking.

How do you treat tooth decay in a 4-year-old?

Depending on the severity of the decay, treatment may involve a tooth-coloured filling, a stainless steel crown, or other gentle restorative options to protect your child’s tooth.

How do I choose a kids dentist?

Choose a dentist who has experience working with children, offers a welcoming, child-friendly environment, and is recommended by other parents through positive reviews. This helps ensure your child feels at ease and receives the highest quality care.

Can a child have a filling without an injection?

Yes, in some cases. Depending on the depth of the cavity and your child’s comfort, the dentist may use gentle techniques such as laser dentistry or air abrasion to remove decay without the need for a traditional injection.

Why is paediatric dentistry different from general dentistry?

A paediatric dentist in Brisbane focuses specifically on the emotional and physical needs of growing children. Our Springfield Dental team is trained to handle the unique shapes of baby teeth and explain treatments in a way that kids actually enjoy.

How often should my child have a dental check-up and clean?

For most children, we recommend a visit every six months. Regular appointments allow us to catch potential issues like cavities early and ensure that their permanent teeth are coming in straight and healthy.

Do you offer emergency kids’ dentistry services in Brisbane?

Yes. We provides emergency dental treatments for kids. Whether it’s a chipped tooth from sports or a sudden toothache, we prioritise emergency appointments to get your child out of pain and back to smiling as quickly as possible.
